A beautiful Center for Christian retreats, family reunions, meetings. . .
The objective of the Waka Christian Center is to unite, inspire, challenge, and equip members for Christian action in their homes, churches, places of work and communities through the retreat experience. Our vision is for a facility dedicated to the work of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, which is totally ecumenical and available for Christians to use in diverse manners.
The Waka Christian Center is organized exclusively for religious purposes within the meaning of section 501©(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
The Center operates a non-denominational Christian conference center that provides space for meetings, conferences, and overnight retreats in the northern Texas Panhandle. The Center provides meeting space for National Emmaus weekends namely Walk to Emmaus, Chrysalis, Cursillo and Tres Dias. The center serves the Christian churches in the area, the Boy Scouts of American, family reunions, and youth groups.
The Center will maintain the property which was the former Waka Elementary School in Waka and all other properties owned by the Center for the sole purpose of operating a Christian center.
Funds to operate the Center are received as contributions from members and interested persons, fees from organizations contracting the use of the Center, contributions from local churches, and monthly donations from members who participate in the Seed program. No part of the funds of the Center shall be used for the benefit of, or be distributable to its members, directors, or other private persons, except that the Center shall be authorized and empowered to pay any reasonable compensation for services rendered and to make payments and distributions in furtherance of the purposes set forth in the above paragraphs. No substantial part of the activities of the Center shall be the carrying on of propaganda or otherwise influence legislation, or intervene in any political campaign on behalf of any candidates for public office.
The Center is under the direction of the Board of Directors consisting of eighteen members who are elected from the membership to serve rotating terms of three years with each class consisting of six members. All questions or decisions are to be directed to the Board.
